Today is Friday and we're off on our next adventure on Sunday.
The case is packed and the passports are itching to go.
This will be a chance to fill in the gaps of the six week trip that was cancelled when covid struck the world. We're also adding in a couple of extra places (and, sorry, Leipzig, we're missing you out).
I'm breaking my own rules and we're flying one way. I will have the usual airport associated severe anxiety, but both my wife and I have got assistance booked.
The outline of the trip is as follows :
On Sunday it's trains to Heathrow with an overnight stay.
An early morning flight to Vienna, followed by trains to Bratislava where we'll stop for three nights.
Then we're going into the Tatras mountains, staying at Štrbské Pleso by the lake, and we hope to go on the mountain railways.
Then it's a hop to Žilina - as a random Slovak town to explore.
We go by train to Brno (and maybe get to Mendel's museum for a bit of genetics).
Leaving the East behind, we'll have a few days in Dresden traipsing round museums and doing culture.
Then it's a bit of a dash across Germany passing through Koblenz, the Rhine valley and Cologne.
We'll come home using our favourite ferry overnight to Harwich.
We're going to try going home by way of that London rather than through Cambridge for a change.
Sounds easy!
Well we'll see.
We're certainly looking forward to it.
