Monday
We went to Osborne House by bus. This involved the number 22 bus (runs on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays in the mornings only!) to the bus station. Then we got straight onto a 3 to Newport, where, at the bus station, a number 5 was waiting. And Just Like That we arrived! It was a flipping long walk to the house from the entrance on the main road!
We went to the beach and Sacha paddled - afterwards I sat and did a drawing. We got the buggy back to the house and looked at the gardens and sat and talked and walked around a bit and had a sit or two. Then we got the buses back - this time through Ryde. It was a long walk back to the digs, because the bus only runs in the morning (did I mention that?). But we bought some salad in the coop and that was our tea. Gosh we're tired!
Tuesday
We were super organised this morning, and had our suitcase packed before breakfast.
It was cooler this morning but we still eat outside just to show the weather gods we weren't going to be intimidated. The weather gods responded by sending rain as soon as we got on the bus (well, the first of three buses).
The journey across the island went without a hitch, and we arrived in Yarmouth in good time for a ferry crossing to Lymington.
Equally, at Brockenhurst - our first change of trains, we got on the London train just as we got onto the platform.
Just to be cussed (and to avoid a long walk) we went from the main Waterloo Station to Waterloo East for the short journey to Charing Cross. (and no waiting there either).
And straight into the madness that is tourist London.
We arrived at our club in time for a lie down and to collect ourselves before we stuffed our faces with an excellent - but no frills - meal in the outside terrace. There was a very strong smell of the countryside coming from next door - where the police horses live!
After tea we went to Trafalgar Square to moan some more about the tourists. Then when we got bored of that we went down into Green Park and along the back of Downing Street to cut back into Whitehall and back to Great Scotland Yard for the night.
