Genau is the German word for exactly - and today's journey has been exactly as planned.
Last night wasn't great because Sacha was suffering badly due, mainly, to that horrible viral infection.
The hotel was very odd - it was a lovely location overlooking the Rhine with a wonderful breakfast terrace.
That's as good as it got!
None of the sinks had plugs. There was a kettle, a microwave and a fridge, but no cutlery, crockery or supplies!
There were the most incredibly steep steps up to the entrance, which was a touch challenging.
Still, it was a bed - an extremely soft memory foam bed (and as you know, I despise memory foam).
After checking out as late as we dared we went and sat watching the Rhine flow along for ages. Once we got bored with that we walked up to Lidl for supplies - it's next to the train station.
We took a local train - without First Class 😱 - to a little place called Remagen where we got a glass of coffee from a riverside restaurant and watched the Rhine flow along.
Once we got bored with that we walked back up the hill to the station and got a proper train - with First Class 👍 - to today's final destination, Cologne.
Although - let's be honest, it was a token attempt at First, with a screamin' yellow colour scheme designed to bring on nausea for those without the correct ticket
We got here much later than expected, but that was due to watching a lot of river water!
The hotel here is 'adequate' - it's got beds and a real opening window. Being next to the station it's bloody noisy, but that's to be expected.
Tomorrow we head off to the ferry.
Anyway here's some token street furniture-art from Remagen for your day:
