Once again I'm having problems getting images into here.
This may be the hotel WiFi, or it could be something else!.
Family will get the pictures separately
When we got up this morning my cold waa a whole lot better, but Sacha's was clearly just starting.
She was off her food and had an itchy throat and an aching head - pretty much how I started.
So it was just as well that we had plenty of time to get today's first train which left the Hauptbahnhoff at a shade after 12.
But here is a confession - we didn't buy tickets for tram. It was just about when we were getting off that I spotted the ticket machine(I doubt we're going to bankrupt the city fathers)
However, I did invest a Euro in the model railway layout in the station - which was money very well spent.
This train was a comfortable first generation ICE and we were on it for around 5 hours. Plenty of time to relax and chill!
We passed through Jenna (for Karl Weiss Jenna optics) and Eisensach (for Wartburg Castle and eponymous cars - which is now an Opel factory). We saw Kalimandscharo (but forgot to take a photo).
We had a rather good bun and a cup of hot chocolate each from the restaurant car, but we didn't really want food.
Our first class carriage filled up as we approached Frankfurt
And emptied when we left Frankfurt airport.
It should have been an easy cross platform change with 5 minutes to spare at Mainz, but it turned into a very relaxed change with 20 minutes to spare.
Our train was 5 minutes late arriving, but the train that started in Interlaken was 27 minutes late!
The train to Koblenz was a lovely old style, armchair seating, Swiss train - it was a shame we only got to enjoy it for 45 minutes.
By the time we got to Koblenz it was pretty obvious that my ever-loving was seriously suffering with my cold that I'd so generously spread around.
So - again - we took the easy option and got a taxi to our hotel.
She didn't want anything to eat so I had a McDonald's (again) - although I can't say that Koblenz seems a very welcoming town
But - we're only here for tonight and it's a short, easy day tomorrow.
