Meanderings around Europe by train – and other stuff

Day 7 - Sunday in the Sun

We watched some of the Eurovision Song Contest last night on French TV. It doesn't improve with age! I fell asleep during it, and Sacha wasn't far behind me.

As it's Sunday it's market day. As it's market day, we went to the market. We bought a few odds & ends - mindful of the weight of stuff to carry, and the restrictions on taking stuff into the UK.

After spending a fair few euros, I took most of the stuff back to the flat and left Sacha on a bench in a playground. Once I'd got back to her - by the most complicated route possible - we headed to the cafe we'd been to a couple of days ago.

I sampled my first Diabolo Menthe - and jolly refreshing it was too (despite the colour!) After spending a long while there in the shade we walked along the lakeside until we found a bench. The French don't really 'get' benches - there's far too few, and often without backrests.

From here we could see some Wing Foilers on the lake - which looks like far more hard work than it should be!

The breeze got up, and seemed a bit chilly, so we headed back towards the flat. I stopped into Carrefour for a few biscuits on the way.

We've got sliced chicken and salad for tea, and baguette and croissants for breakfast tomorrow.

And tomorrow we start heading home. We've agreed to get the coach from the end of the road to Marseille - it's easy & convenient, the coaches are frequent unlike the train, so it'll be an adventure. There's plenty of time tomorrow.
