Old People meandering around Europe by train & ferry

Cruising Home

We're home!

We were out of bed very, very early, breakfasted and off the ship at about 8. The taxi wasn't exactly seamless, but we got back to our car ok - in time to hit the M3 at the tail end of the rush hour. What fun!

We stopped at Brackley Sainsbury's to put some volts in the Capri and buy some food for lunch. We were home a bit after 12.

There's half a case of washing unloaded and the rest of the cases are looking at me accusingly. They are going to have to wait.

I've a vague recollection of yesterday. We went down the Irish Sea catching glimpses of the Emerald Isle before turning left at Lands End. (That's a genuine nautical term "turn left").

We managed to see quite a few dolphins leaping around the ship in the area around the Scilly Isles. There were more later on in the evening.

We had a nice final meal with our table companions.

While my beloved went to see the final show of the cruise, I did the packing. This slightly odd arrangement worked out well - we were both content with our evenings.

It'll take a little while to fully digest the whole experience but I can certainly say that this cruise has been the best of the three by a very big margin.
The food, the staff, the facilities, and the entertainment have all been splendid.
The destinations were very good, and the tours were mostly ok.
Naturally, this all comes at a cost premium, but it's been worthwhile.

I'll go and stare at those cases again tomorrow!
