Old People meandering around Europe by train & ferry

And we are off

The taxi arrived as booked - for some reason this never fails to surprise me, and the silent taxi driver got us to Leicester Station in time for the midday service to London. Unusually, there was a drink and snacks service - this isn't normal on a Sunday on East Midlands Railway as far as I know.

I bought a dissapointing selection of grub for our tea at M&S in St Pancras - I'm sure the food will be fine (it better be at that price!) - but what a poor choice.

And down we went into the Thameslink bowels for the very short hop to Farringdon and the much longer hop to the Elizabeth Line. The Lizzie Line never ceases to make me wonder - it's definitely a 21st century railway going places that I could never have imagined as a youngster.

I'm convinced the distance between Farringdon and Heathrow is shorter than the walk from the station at T2&3 to the hotel next to T2.

Still, it's a lovely room - absolutely silent with an enormous comfortable bed. Ahhhhhh

I successfully got the suitcase dropped off at the desk so I don't have to worry about it tomorrow, but the whole complex was heaving with so many people!

The M&S salad was acceptable and Dolittle on the TV was simply bizarre.

It's a very early night for us now. Up very early tomorrow.
